What is a foreign body?
Common objects we treat include small toys and toy parts, bugs, coins, buttons, pieces of food (peas, nuts, corn) and beads.
Swallowed foreign bodies
We locate the object with a digital X-ray and either recommend monitoring or refer to the emergency room based on the level of threat.
Foreign body removal from the nose
Simple removal without anesthesia. Signs include chronic one-sided sinus infections, foul-smelling discharge, or congestion.
Foreign body removal from the ear
Painless removal without anesthesia, often indicated by ear discharge or pain.
